Our Freeloader Isis will be truely tested once again in May 2015 during an epic adventure across the seas - James Ketchell a serial adventurer, motivational speaker & Scouting ambassador, along with his friend Ashley Wilson who is a Scout Leader will row 3,600 miles across the Indian Ocean, departing from Geralton in Western Australia across to Port Louis in Mauritiius. It is the least rowed ocean in the world & only 16 attempts have been successful of which only 4 of those done by pairs. The fastest recorded time for the row is 85 days, 2 hours & 5 minutes.
For most of us I think that would sound a mighty feat in itself but please read on...........
In 2007 James had a serious motorbike accident and was told that he wouldn't be able to continue with his physical lifestye as he had previously done so - but how very wrong that statement was, find our more at http://www.jamesketchell.net and Ashley, his fellow rower has suffered from Epilepsy all his life, and is also in remission for Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
Their main reason for the challenge is to raise awareness of Epilepsy, they aim to raise £80,000 in donations which will be split between 3 charities - Young Epilepsy, Scouts & ELIFAR (Every Life Is For A Reason) a small charity which improves the lives of children & adults with severe learning difficulties & associated physical disability.
We know our Freeloader Isis will enable them to charge their equipment so they can log their journey for us all to see http://www.poweryouradventures.com/products/freeloader-isis we wish them both all the luck they so deserve, look our for the pictures in May!
The Freeloader Isis, our new portable solar charger, has been road tested by Wanderlust Magazine, along with 6 others and they voted it the 'Best Value' charger - take a look at what they said.
You may have already heard that Sean Conway had to abandon his length of Britain Cycle, Swim & Run due to 'can you believe it' by taking a 'video selfie'!
He was on the last leg too (no pun intended there!) the 1,000 mile run from John O'Groates to Lands End when the accident happened, he was 3 days into the run at Loch Ness - he did try to carry on but in the end had to give in to the injury.
But, still what a fantastic acheivement - 1,300 miles cycle ride & a 900 mile swim, certainly not for the faint hearted I'd say!
Photographer, Sean of Cheltenham, Glos plans to try the run again next May.
The crew at Freeloader are delighted to confirm that extreme adventurer and all round cool dude, Sean Conway has chosen Freeloader as his only power source for his #runseansun challenge.
